WHAT IS THE REASON FOR DECLINATAION IN POLITICAL REPRESENTATION OF KAYASTHAS?
Politics is a numbers game.
India's total population is about 1.3 billion and Kayastha's population is only about 90 lakh in India and they are found mainly in urban lands of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttrakhand, Assam, Tripura, Odisha, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Only few constituencies of India are there where Kayastha's are in majority because they are living in different areas and their population is not united at many places.
Just like any other community Kayasthas are also one of the major group in India, most of them are educated, they are well settled and living a healthy life. They belongs to the upper caste hence they are not qualified to get profit from the reservation system. Many of them are Civil Servants, Lawyers, Writers, Teachers and other respected professional person. Not everyone in this community are super rich neither they are suffering from poverty. Most of them are living in a middle class secular family where they are blessed with basic necessities like education.
Therefore after reading above paragraphs you can study that they are less in numbers, and in politics you can't become successful without playing numbers game.
Hence, Politicians and Political Parties in India are not advocating them because this is not going to add anything huge in their vote bank. And currently majority of them are supporting the right wing politics just like any other upper caste group.
Note - Aim of this answer is not to promote casteism or any particular caste. I strongly believe that every caste and community in India is serving for the betterment of society. Everyone is equally contributing in India's progress and all are equal. It is really unfortunate that in India if you want to study Politics in a better way then it is vital to study various castes and communities. I am against this caste system and I know how this is constructing problems for India.
I hope one who added this question has got the answer. Thank you.
